Saturday Coffees Often an Unexpected Treat
Saturday mornings are always a time when hams and interested guests gather at the Pecos Valley Amateur Radio Club's headquarters to fellowship and talk about everything from politics to guns, and occasionally even amateur radio. On December the 9th a whole lot of discussion about ham radio was exchanged as Frank Kimbler, (WS5DZZ), hosted a slide show presentation on antennas, particularly the Broad Band Terminated Dipole antenna, or BBTD. Frank kept an audience of a dozen fellow hams riveted as he explained how he successfully constructed a version of the delta shaped antenna designed by Bonnie Crystal, (KQ6XA). The design's main selling point is how it's nearly flat SWR across most bands makes it usable without a tuner. For more details on this and other innovative antenna designs, visit www.hflink.com.
